I joined IBM in 1981 as a Systems Engineer and worked in Customer Sales and Sales Management positions until the early 1990’s. I currently works as a Principal Consultant on IBM’s Corporate Marketing & Communications team.


I am part of a Social Media Insights practice within the Market Insights function in IBM. This is an internal consulting practice that advises business leaders on how to leverage web 2.0, social media, and online communities.


I have also built an expertise the past 10 years in researching emerging trends, technologies and business opportunities that may impact IBM in the future. As part of this work I created and have led an internal IBM community called HorizonWatch since 2001. The 2000 member community is interested in understanding future customer business issues/trends and how that might translate into growth opportunities for IBM.


Away from IBM, I have created a public community called HorizonWatching with a blog (http://horizonwatching.typepad.com/) and presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. The focus is on sharing ideas on emerging trend, technology and business issues.


I am also on the blogging team at http://smarterplanet.tumblr.com/

I have a Masters of Management (1995) with a concentration in marketing and management strategy from Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Evanston, Illinois. I am an avid golfer, enjoys fitness activities, and reading. I live with my wife, two daughters, and the family dog in Palatine, Illinois.
